The CyberPowerPC Gamer XTREME VR is priced at just $719.99 shipped and for that you get an optimized desktop PC for gaming that is marketed as VR ready for the HTC VIVE and Occulus Rift. This Amazon exclusive system uses the Intel 6th Generation Core i5-6402P 2.8GHz quad-core 14nm processor and the AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB ‘Polaris’ video card that just came out one month ago. The system is topped off with an Intel B150 based motherboard, 8GB of DDR4 memory, a large 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive,  24X DVD-RW Optical Drive and a 600 Watt power supply.

The CyberPowerPC Gamer XTREME VR comes with a non-backlit gaming keyboard, ambidextrous gaming mouse, 802.11 AC wireless USB adapter (no Bluetooth support), the power cord, Windows 10 installation disc and supporting user guides and manuals. The only thing ‘missing’ from this gaming PC is the display.


We won’t bore you with a million shots of the PC as the PR images show all the key external features of this case. We did want to take off the front and back panels of the case though and show you the cable management that was done by the employees that assembled this system here in the United States. Yes, this system is proudly assembled right there in the USA. If you look closely at the PR photos you’ll see that there isn’t a 24-pin ATX power supply cable plugged in and the cable routing is different from the retail system that we got.

As you can see from the picture above all the cables are properly routed and secured. Beautiful! The one thing that we quickly noticed about the MSI B150M Bazooka Motherboard used on this build is that it only has one PCIe x1 slot available for add-in any expansion cards. Since it doesn’t have a full sized PCIe x16 slot this means you won’t be able to add another video card for a multi-GPU Crossfire solution. You can easily add more SATA or USB devices though and there are two open DDR4 DIMM slots for additional memory expansion.

This particular motherboard supports up to 64GB of DDR4 memory (16GB x 4), so you can easily upgrade the memory down the road. If you wanted to add an SSD down the road the Cooler Master MasterBox 5 PC case has front and rear mounting points available!



Under the power supply cover resides a High Power HPG-600BR-F12S power supply. This 600W power supply has a single +12V power rail that is rated at 45Amps / 540 Watts and a large 140mm cooling fan. If you were expecting a fully modular name brand power supply at this price point you are out of luck. The good news is that a standard ATX power supply is used, so you easily swap it out down the road if desired.

At its 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple teased a new desktop computer that's coming this December, the iMac Pro. As the name suggests, the iMac Pro is a workstation class machine that's aimed at pro users with demanding workflows.
Pricing for the iMac Pro starts at $4,999, and the premium price tag should come as no surprise -- this is the most powerful desktop machine Apple has ever built.
The iMac Pro features the same design as the standard iMac, but with an all-flash architecture and a new thermal design that supports an Intel Xeon processor with up to 18 cores and a top-of-the-line Radeon Pro Vega graphics.
The 27-inch iMac Pro is equipped with a high-quality 5K display that supports 1 billion colors and it comes in a unique space gray enclosure with matching (and exclusive) space gray accessories.
iMac Pro features four Thunderbolt 3 ports powerful enough to drive multiple 5K displays at once, and it supports up to 4TB of solid state storage and 128GB of ECC RAM.

Apple plans to launch the iMac Pro in December, and it will mark the first step towards a serious effort to meet the needs of the pro Mac user base. Following the iMac Pro, Apple will introduce a high-end high-throughput modular Mac Pro machine that will support future upgrades to increase its longevity.




CPU and GPU


The iMac Pro uses Intel's Xeon processors with 8, 10, and 18 core chips available as optional configurations with Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz and up to 42MB of cache.
Intel introduced new Xeon-W workstation-class processors in August, and the new chips, which use an LGA2066 socket and Skylake-SP architecture, come in 8, 10, and 18 core configurations with Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz, 48 PCI Express 3.0 lanes, and support for up to 512GB of DDR4-2666 ECC memory. That matches up nicely with what Apple has said about the processors being used in the iMac Pro.

Intel Core i9:18 Core X Series Processor Specs

Intel keeps trickling out details about the next generation of ultra-performance processors, its X-series range, which includes the new i9 core chips, and we’ve got all the latest price, spec, and release date information.
Intel has announced full specs and pricing for the 18-core i9 Extreme Edition CPU that sits as the flagship chip in its new X-series range of processors.
According to Intel, the new 18-core processor will feature a base speed of 2.6GHz, and a Turbo Boost 2.0 clock-speed of 4.2GHz. It’s also possible to use Turbo Boost 3.0 to further speed up the clock-rate on the fastest two cores, giving a maximum clock speed of 4.4Ghz. That’s only marginally lower than the 4.5GHz achieved by Intel’s Core i7-7700K, the current top-end consumer desktop processor.
We also know that the 16-core model will be capable of speeds between 2.8GHz and 4.4GHz, and that the 14-core variant will have a base clock-rate of 3.1GHz.
We don’t have proper benchmark results yet, but Intel has offered up some of its own testing readouts. In Cinebench R15, the 16-core i9 chip managed a score of 3,200 – that’s paired with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080Ti GPU.
The 14-core, 16-core, and 18-core Intel Core i9 chips will go on sale on September 25, but the 12-core version is available as soon as August 28. The top-end 18-core model will set you back $2,000 USD.

Intel’s next-generation workstation CPUs will include a new model name, called Core i9. This forms the very top end of Intel’s X-series of procesors, which was previously topped by a load of different Core i7s.
Specifically, there are five new Intel Core i9 chips, all of which feature 10 or more cores, with the top-end i9-7980XE packing a ridiculous 18 cores – the most ever for an Intel desktop part.

There’s also three new i7 chips and an i5 processor joining the new i9 chips, including the quad-core i5-7640X and i7 models in 4, 6 and 8-core variants.
The cheaper chips will rival AMD’s top-end Ryzen processors, featuring higher clock speeds and support for more PCIe lanes – both of which are important for high-end PCs that pack powerful components, like multiple graphics cards and high-speed storage arrays.
The most expensive new additions are (on paper, at least) in a class of their own, with the Core i9-7980XE priced at $1,999 (about £1,558). It’s the first Intel consumer processor that comes with a teraflop of computing power. Alongside the 7980XE, there are 10, 12, 14 and 16-core i9 alternatives, with the 10 core i9-7900X set to go on sale for $999 (about £778).
All Intel’s new i9 chips come with 3.3GHz base clock speeds, and are capable of reaching up to 4.3GHz dual-core speeds with Turbo Boost 2.0, pushing that to 4.5GHz with Turbo Boost 3.0.
